Maine:
Augusta: We invite a PEDIATRIC HOSPITALIST to join a team of 4 specialists (and several per diem pediatricians) caring for inpatients in Maine’s newest hospital – a state-of-the-art 190-bed regional medical center in the state capital city, just 50 minutes from Portland. Pediatric Hospitalists here provide high quality care for newborns (including well-newborns, Level II NICU and delivery attendance) and pediatric inpatients. They also provide emergency department consults. Interested candidates should be prepared to handle neonatal resuscitation and newborn care / stabilization of critically ill newborns while awaiting transfer to a tertiary care center (the nearest of which is in Portland). This is an Equal Opportunity Employer. The average daily census is just 4-6 inpatients, so you can look forward to providing in-depth care for your patients and their families. You will be supported by OB/GYNs, midwives, anesthesia personnel, emergency medicine providers and family practice physicians. Pediatric subspecialists and NICU/PICU support is provided by phone from the state’s two children's hospitals. This medical center is also home to an unopposed Family Medicine Residency Program (affiliated with Dartmouth) and hosts rotating medical students. 1-2 learners are typically part of the team on weekdays, so teaching will be an important part of your routine. Enjoy a flexible schedule with 12- or 24-hour shifts available (full time is just 13 12-hour shifts/month). Join a very family-friendly group of pediatric hospitalists who support each another as they seek a terrific work/life balance. You will be employed by the hospital and earn a competitive salary based on experience along with benefits that include relocation assistance, a generous amount of earned time off, insurance (liability with tail coverage, medical, dental, vision, life, disability), paid leave with a budget for your CME, a choice of pension plans with employer matching, and more. Generous, multiyear medical education loan repayment is also available. Augusta is Maine's historic capital city, a growing college town, and a family-friendly community situated in the scenic Kennebec Valley. Entrepreneurs start and grow a variety of businesses here, while students learn in first-rate schools, libraries, and cultural facilities. Augusta’s busy shopping district offers dozens of specialty shops, name-brand and big-box stores, along with multiple restaurants. The Civic Center hosts everything from rock concerts to sporting events. Augusta spans both sides of the picturesque Kennebec River, which offers scenic recreation. Enjoy kayaking, whitewater rafting, fishing and hunting, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and more. Take advantage of local hiking and biking trails, award-winning golf courses, and easily accessible ski resorts. This area is marked by picturesque waterways where bald eagles are seen regularly. Residential options are available in the city, in several surrounding communities, and – within a few minutes’ drive – homes with acreage in country settings can be found. Since this position offers shift work without call, you can live anywhere and commute. The hospital is just two minutes off Maine’s interstate. Portland is easily accessible from Augusta. This highly desirable city features a very active social scene centered in the popular Old Port district of eateries and nightclubs. Hundreds of Portland restaurants serve the finest seafood plus international fare from two dozen regions. Amenities include the convenient International Jetport, exciting semipro sports, scenic harborside dining, galleries and museums, live theater, an acclaimed symphony orchestra, and much more. Boston is 2.5 hours from Augusta. Please contact us today to discuss this terrific new opportunity.
Bangor: We invite a sharp PEDIATRIC Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join a popular pediatric practice operated by the state’s largest FQHC in Maine’s third-largest city. Practice in a beautifully renovated, pediatrics-only medical arts building — thoughtfully designed with both patients and providers in mind. This busy outpatient practice offers 7 day/week care for infants, children, adolescents, teens, and young adults. Families value the 24-hour pediatrician coverage and additional programming in family therapy, foster care pediatrics, neonatal abstinence syndrome, and more. Join a dedicated team of more than a dozen physicians, APPs, and mental health specialists providing integrated care in a patient-centered model that prioritizes both access and outcomes. In this interesting “Same Day Care” role you will see a wide range of pediatric patients who need timely care — often within 24–48 hours — for urgent or acute needs. Visits may include acute illnesses, injuries, newborn weight checks, and more. You will also support the broader practice by seeing other providers’ patients during their absences, assisting with well-child visits, chronic care, or desktop tasks such as referrals and follow-ups. This is not a walk-in clinic, and you will not have your own patient panel — rather, you will serve as a flexible, collaborative member of the clinical team. CONFIDENT NEW GRADUATES are encouraged to apply. You will receive robust support from experienced colleagues in a collaborative setting. This is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
Choose a 4- or 5-day workweek (40 hours). Weekend shifts are shared and come with additional pay.
You will earn a competitive salary with regularly scheduled increases, a sign-on bonus, and a full benefits package including:
- Relocation assistance
- Federal liability insurance
- Health and dental insurance
- Paid holidays and generous PTO
- Additional paid leave with budget for your CME
- Student loan repayment assistance
