Augusta: We seek a skilled Pain Medicine specialist to join the important Physiatry and Pain Management practice in Maine’s newest hospital – a state-of-the-art 190-bed regional medical center in the state capital city, just 50 minutes from Portland. Berlin: We invite a skilled Nurse Practitioner to practice as a PAIN SPECIALIST on the medical staff of a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital in picturesque New Hampshire, near the White Mountain National Forest. You will join a high-functioning pain management team and have a convenient weekday practice (4 days/week). In an office setting, you will see adult patients and provide services including medication management, certification for medical cannabis, education/counseling, monitoring of medication compliance including urine drug screens, and more. Members of the pain management team are collaborative, provide occasional consults to inpatients and ED patients and share phone-only call (after fully trained). This is a newly created position in response to recognized community need. A comprehensive training program is provided. This team uses a nonjudgmental approach and embraces a whole person philosophy of care. An ideal candidate will have prior experience in broad spectrum of pain management services, though practitioners with significant experience in primary care, orthopedics, or related specialties are encouraged to apply. Minor procedures will also be within your scope of practice, and will include such things as trigger point injections, joint injections, occipital blocks, cold ablation and Botox for headaches or chronic pain. If such procedures are new to you, members of your team will precept/train you over time. Candidates with certification in Medication Assisted Treatment with X waiver are welcome, and those with an interest can become certified, though this is not required. You will start this practice with extra-long patients visits to allow you to ramp up in volume over time. You will spend 3 days/week seeing patients in Berlin, and 1 day/week on site in a sister hospital in Colebrook, NH (with paid mileage).
